Just so you know I consider myself a Christian someone to tries to follow the teachings of Jesus. I believe in the Christian Holy Bible and that it is the divinely inspired word of the one true God. I have actively studied and researched the Holy Bible. Even with all my effort I have found that there are very smart (smarter than me) and very well educated theologians that don’t agree on how to interpret the text. I should point out that the differences are few compared to the overall text. But they do exist.
Having said that I have found some “Christian” opinions that I often do not understand. I need to stress that only some have this opinion, not all.
For example:
- God has a “veil of protection” over believers.
- Yet, if a Christian gets ill ‘God moves in mysterious ways’.
- And If a non-believer gets ill a ‘Christian’ says that ‘God is punishing them’
If one admits they don’t even understand the ways of God in their own lives, why are these same people so sure they understand the ways of God in other peoples lives?
- We must ‘call a sin a sin’ and tell other people what they do is a sin.
- God commands us to live humbly, being a witness for what we have seen as the blessing of God and teach Gods message. He also teaches us that all men are imperfect, i.e. we all sin.
- But if one believes that we are all sinners, then how do they live in humility and act a witness while telling others how to live.
Should we set ourselves above others and in our perfectness dictate laws to others? When did your testament become a critical indictment on the actions of others? Isn’t it actually arrogance not humility that allows us to tell others how to live? If we agree that we are all sinners before God wouldn’t it be best to live as an example. Jesus said in Matthew to offer our testament? Our testament is what we have witnessed, which is why we are commanded to give witness.
Many Christians believe they are saved and will go to heaven after their death and claim this as a certainty. How is it then, that this certainty gets translated into some all knowing understanding of the Holy Bible. Once we jump to judge others so many forget they are not perfect. Once we admit we are not perfect we should then remember that fact and act with humility.
